Samenvatting: |
This report describes how BAMB implemented more than 300 electronic Material Passports as a one stop shop for material information. Materials Passports developed in BAMB are sets of data describing defined characteristics of materials in products that give them value for recovery and reuse.
Their aim is to: increase or keep the value of materials, products and components over time; create incentives for suppliers to produce healthy, sustainable & circular materials/building products; support materials choices in Reversible Building Design projects; make it easier for developers, managers & renovators to choose healthy, sustainable & circular building materials; facilitate reversed logistics & take back of products, materials & components.
This is a publication of the European project “Buildings as Material Banks” (BAMB, 9/2015-2/2019, www.bamb2020.eu) coordinated by Brussels Environment, which received funding from the EU Horizon 2020 research & innovation programme

Samenvatting: |
The BAMB framework for materials passports (MP) described in this report extract provides a basis for Material Passports and supports development, prototyping, and constant improvement of the passports and the enabling materials passports platform (MPP). Materials Passports developed in BAMB are sets of data describing defined characteristics of materials in products that give them value for recovery and reuse.
The framework for materials passports includes contributions of BAMB partners and was mainly developed by EPEA and SundaHus.

Samenvatting: |
Creating Buildings with Positive Impacts is designed to do what its title says. It is a guide for every property owner, investor, developer, builder, or planner to create a beneficial footprint in the Circular Economy. The guide includes a practical method for setting objectives and gaining economic benefits from the results, with examples at every stage, and combines best practices from the marketplace for new and renovated buildings.

Samenvatting: |
At the time of diminishing of resources and increase of environmental problems, it has become crucial to understand the capacities of buildings to transform a negative environmental impact of built environment to a positive one. The question is: how does one transform the current linear approach to design of buildings that has one ‘end-of-life’ option (demolition) to a circular design solution that will guarantee multiple life options of the building as well as of its systems, products and materials?
This synthesis of BAMB report D11 looks into three dimensions of transformation (1) dimension of spatial flexibility of building; (2) dimension of technical flexibility of systems and product; and (3) dimension for material flexibility that can make a transition from a linear to circular building. Buildings designed with three dimensions of transformation open opportunities for a great palette of new value propositions of buildings and its systems, products and materials. Those buildings are called reversible buildings.
