werfafvalTrefwoord: BAMB construction économie circulaire ressources conception Samenvatting: Policies and regulations in member states and across the EU will influence our ability to transition to a circular economy – positively and negatively.
This state-of-the-art report aims to give an overview of the current policy instruments that are considered to have relevance in relation to promoting, or possibly hindering, the adoption of circular economy opportunities in the built environment. The analysis of the current policy instruments has been done on a European level and on a member state level for 4 different countries being: Belgium, Portugal, Sweden and UK.

werfafvalTrefwoord: BAMB construction économie circulaire ressources conception Samenvatting: A huge industry is involved in mining the raw material, smelting it into billets or bars and processing it to create a finished metal product ready for use. Next to “virgin” metal (metal from primary resources, e.g. iron ore), recycled or ‘scrap’ metal is used to create products. Whilst the use of recycled metals saves a lot of energy and processes compared to virgin metals production, the use of virgin metal is still a necessity. This is due to the demand of metal products exceeding the supply of scrap, and because desired composition of metal products is achieved by diluting recycled metal with virgin material. Moving toward using 100% recycled, healthy metals for products will require a more symbiotic and collaborative approach from all players within the fi
In this report, the challenges of the metals recycling industry moving towards a circular economy are detailed. Both mechanical and health related issues must be dealt with, if the industry is to move to 100% recyclable and/or more recycled products and materials.

werfafvalTrefwoord: BAMB construction économie circulaire ressources conception Samenvatting: The publication presents and illustrates design strategies and technical solutions for the realisation of (circular) reversible buildings. It also addresses the key strategy for reversible refurbishment projects.
Numerous design indicators, guidelines and principles are highlighted and illustrated by BAMB pilot projects.
The publication is published as an E-Book and is freely accessible to everyone interested in the new world of circularity of material resources through the built environment.

werfafvalTrefwoord: BAMB économie circulaire construction ressources conception Samenvatting: The publication gives an overview of a broad exploration of factors that determent transformation capacity of buildings and reuse potential of building products and elements for everyone interested in the new world of dynamic circular buildings enabling circular material streams through the built environment of material resources.
The International Design Studio results presented in this e-book have addressed two key elements of Reversible Buildings (i) spatial reversibility and (ii) technical reversibility. Spatial reversibility defines the ratio between fixed and variable space and the capacity of variable space to accommodate different functions. Technical reversibility is about the design of the building structure considering individual recovery and exchangeability of building elements.

werfafvalTrefwoord: BAMB construction économie circulaire ressources Samenvatting: This synthesis report provides a snapshot of the current context and known opportunities and barriers to a circular building sector, reversible building design and Materials Passports. The main technical, economic, financial, environmental, legal, spatial and logistic drivers/causes for the known (types of) actors within the current value chain have been investigated.
Focusing on the European context, and the countries involved within the BAMB project, it investigated: value chain at building product level and building level ; building information modelling (BIM); commonly used methods to refurbish and maintain buildings for major construction types; causes of demolition of buildings and major maintenance needs; construction and demolition waste estimates; re-use potential of buildings, components and materials within the existing buildings stock; solutions to accelerate reuse; initiatives and regulations; financial and business models.
